One of Ashby Roundtable’s challenges this year is to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours.
This challenge involves walking the UK’s highest three peaks in 24 hours.
The mountains we will climb in order of elevation, are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, 1,344 m (4,409 ft), Snowdon in North Wales, 1,085 m (3,560 ft), and Scafell Pike in North-Western England, 978 m (3,209 ft). In all the challenge involves some 42 km (26 mi) of ascent and descent, with total travel approaching 765 km (475 mi).
Our Plan is to start with Ben Nevis, the highest, and finish with Snowdon.
11 of us from Ashby Roundtable are taking on the challenge (see below). The majority of the team are non-walkers, so the amount of training and commitment made by these individuals to get ready for the challenge is epic.
We haven chosen Rainbow’s Children Hospice as our Charity because it’s a charity local to our club and does such a lot of good work. Please visit their website to find our more www.rainbows.co.uk
